Orderly books, 1777.

Orderly books, dated September 27, 1777 - October 14, 1777 and October 9, 1777 - December 18, 1777, for Captain Peter Browne's company in Eyre's artillery battalion. The battalion were at various places in the vicinity of Philadelphia and Towamensing. The first volume was apparently kept by John Osborn, the second perhaps by Jesse Williamson. Both contain brigade, division, and headquarters orders, dealing with courts-martial, shortages of clothing, and hygiene in camp. They also contain muster rolls, returns, lists of deserters, and receipts for payments made by Jehu Eyre and Peter Browne. Some information on the other companies in the battalion is included.
